The cerebellum lies at the dorsal base of the brain. It appears to be a bloom of the brain stem, but that is moderate speculation. Its function is diverse, and poorly understood.
Pre-industrial cultures called the cerebellum the "tree of life". I resonate with that assignment. Although I cannot rigorously defend the statement, my apprehension is that the cerebellum manages our intuitive connections to reality. I have at time perceived it as the locus of antennae that couple my life force to other objects, both animate and inanimate. To those that develop a capacity to control the flow of energy through the brain, that affords a certain privacy.
